Public Access is currently accepting submissions for our next publication, On The Green. Both text and image-based essays are welcome and artists and thinkers working at the intersection of economics and ecology are especially encouraged to apply.
Accepted submissions will be published in a critical anthology that examines the ways in which capital and social capital drive and obstruct efforts to advocate for climate justice, greener cities, responsible land use, and intersectional ecologies.
All submissions for On The Green will be accepted and thoroughly reviewed. We’re looking for artist projects, essays, and experimental poetry and fiction that respond to “green,” no matter how broadly or narrowly defined. Consider the following questions as potential points of departure:
How do we reframe ideas of empathy and care while living through Earth’s sixth major mass extinction?
Does addressing the climate crisis have the potential to build greater social equity?
Do localized climate crises have the potential to redraw broader political landscapes?
How has the flow of capital in the art world at large contributed to man-made climate change?
How do stronger interspecies relationships influence ideas of representation?
Other interpretations and definitions of what “green” is, has been, or will be are absolutely welcome.
Please email all submission to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Submission: On The Green” in the subject heading. Please submit text-based work as either a Word or plain text file attachment (no more than ten thousand words). For image-based work, please submit a PDF mock-up of your project of ten pages or less, in addition to hi-res images saved at 300 ppi. Dropbox, Wetransfer, and Google Drive links will be also be accepted. While works in languages other than English are encouraged, Public Access staff is unable to provide translations due to limited resources. On The Green will be available at regional and national venues after its publication in Spring of 2019.
Submission Deadline: March 1, 2019
